Contests: Apple-themed, Ag-themed, and Costumes!

Our contests are FUN and open to all ages and abilities. There will be prizes! See details for each below.

Contest Details

Apple Pie Baking Contest

SATURDAY ONLY – The Gravenstein Apple Fair is thrilled to bring back the beloved Pie Baking Contest on August 12, 2023! Please disregard any previous information about the contest. The contest is now hosted by the Fair, and is free!

TO ENTER: Pre-register by filling out the form below by 8 pm on Friday, August 11. 

FREE TO ENTER!  OPEN TO ALL AGES!

CONTEST RULES

  1. Only Sonoma County grown apples may be used.
  2. All pies must be covered and submitted to the Info Booth on Saturday, August 12, by 11 a.m.*
  3. All contestants must submit an entry form and recipe.
  4. Pie tins must be marked with entrants name and phone number.
  5. There are no limits to the number of pie entries per person.
  6. The Gravenstein Apple Fair is not responsible for unclaimed pie tins.

* Requires general admission ticket when dropping off pies, no exceptions.

Apple Juggling Contests

SATURDAY & SUNDAY – All Ages, no limit! Impress the crowd with your juggling skills! Sign up for the Apple Juggling Contest at the Information Booth the morning of the day you want to participate. Sign-up sheets are available at 10:30am, first-come, first-serve. Contestants should gather near the North Coast Stage at least 5 minutes before contest is to begin (Noon on Saturday and 1:30pm on Sunday).

Caramel Apple Eating Contests

SATURDAY & SUNDAY – Kids Only, space is limited! Sign up for the Caramel Apple Eating Contest at the Information Booth the morning of the day you want to participate. Sign-up sheets are available at 10:30am, first-come, first-serve. Contestants should gather near the North Coast Stage at least 5 minutes before contest is to begin (Noon on Saturday & 1:30pm on Sunday).

Apple Pie Eating Contests

SATURDAY & SUNDAY – Kids, then Adults, space is limited! Sign up for the Apple Pie Eating Contest at the Information Booth the morning of the day you want to participate. Sign-up sheets are available at 10:30am, first-come, first-serve. Contestants should gather near the North Coast Stage at least 5 minutes before contest is to begin (2pm on Saturday and 3:30 pm on Sunday).

Costume Contest – Golden Apple Theme

SUNDAY ONLY – All Ages! Don your glitziest garb for Sunday, August 13th’s Golden Anniversary Costume Contest! To celebrate our Golden Anniversary, we’re throwing a Golden Apple / Golden Anniversary Costume Contest and Fashion Show! Dress in your best GOLD and/or Apple- themed garb and head to the Northern California Public Media Stage at 3PM on Sunday to walk the stage and show off your costume!

Ag Contests

SATURDAY & SUNDAY – Check out the rest of our friendly competitions happening at the Ag Games. Try out your best rooster crow on Saturday at 5PM during the Rooster Crowing Contest and bring in your homegrown veggies to the Ugly Produce Beauty Pageant on Sunday at 5PM.
