For those who might think that Sebastopol is a one-horse town – to be sure, it’s not. But, in a nod to its apple-growing history, Sebastopol is a two-apple event kinda place. Each event celebrates a different stage in the growing season of Sonoma County’s heritage apple – the Gravenstein. The Apple Blossom Festival, which happens in April and is hosted by the Sebastopol Chamber of Commerce, celebrates the beauty and rebirth of spring when apple trees all over the county are covered with delicate white and pink flowers – a harbinger of the glorious fruit to follow. The Gravenstein Apple Fair, the primary fundraising event for Farm Trails, occurs in August when those blossoms have become the sweet yet tart, crisp and juicy apples we know and love.

Supporting the Apple Blossom Festival
For the first time in fifteen years, the crew from the Gravenstein Apple Fair had a float in the Apple Blossom Parade! Kind of like peanut butter and chocolate, or wine and cheese, two great events came together to support Sonoma County’s favorite apple.

Celebrating 50 Years of the Gravenstein Apple Fair
On the delightful morning of April 29, the Apple Fair team marched down Main Street in Sebastopol – that two-apple event town – representing 50 years of Farm Trails and the Gravenstein Apple Fair. To commemorate the Fair’s golden anniversary, the float was crowned with a signature golden apple. The Fair’s float took third place in the nonprofit category and reminded all who saw it of the importance and the history of the Gravenstein apple to the West County community.

Come enjoy the fun at the Gravenstein Apple Fair, taking place on August 12 – 13, 2023 at lovely Ragle Ranch Park in Sebastopol.
