Enjoy 10 Terrific Tastes at the Gravenstein Apple Fair!

August 12, 2022

Just kidding! There are way more than just 10 terrific tastes. The following is a highlight reel of some of the most delicious items available at the Fair. This list should whet your appetite, literally and figuratively.

Number 10 – Apple Treats

Delicious Caramel Apple

No visit to the Gravenstein Apple Fair is complete without some delicious variation on our hometown apple which are often affectionately referred to as “Gravs.”  Who doesn’t adore fried apples made with all-organic ingredients + love from the Farm Trails apple fritter booth?

If you love apple pie, grab some homemade goodness at Mom’s Apple Pies.

How about an over-the-top caramel apple coated in rich house-made goat-cheese caramel from Rocker Oysterfellers?

“Let them eat cake,” Gravenstein apple cake, that is. At the Cavaliere’s Bakery booth you’ll find an assortment of appetizing baked goods including Gravenstein apple cakes, cookies, and breakfast pastries.

No matter how you slice, fry or caramelize it, there’s nothing like a Grav at the Fair.

Number 9 – Sonoma County Ice Cream

What’s better on a hot August day than cold, homemade ice cream? Not much! Try Valley Ford Cheese and Creamery’s delicious milk shakes and soft serve ice cream made of organic cream from Jersey cows. While you’re visiting Valley Ford, don’t forget their wonderful cheese, too!

Or give Dave’s Gourmet Ice Cream made from Strauss Dairy organic cream a try. Yum!

Number 8 – Savory Favorites

“Smash” Burger

Not a big fan of sweets? More of a savory type? Get your burger on at Sonoma Burger with tasty “smash” burgers and hot dogs made from grass-fed Sonoma County beef.

Maybe you’re a barbecue aficionado. Then the old-fashioned, slow-smoked Southern barbecue from BBQ Smokehouse is a must-try. And don’t forget the homemade sauces and sides.

Number 7 – International Choices

International Flavors

Yes, the Fair has a variety of dining options from around the world. If traditional Bulgarian food infused with Mediterranean flavors sounds like heaven, head to Mommys Yummys where you can find falafel, gyros and vegetable frittatas.

Love Filipino egg rolls or crispy curry rice balls? Then add Jam’s Joy Bungalow to your list of Fair fare.

Number 6 – More International Flavors

If poke is your thing, swing by Poke-a-Go-Go where you can get poke bowls, sushi tacos and burritos.

Looking for Greek goodness, look no further than Acropolis where they serve classic Greek dishes including gyros and spanakopita.

Or if teriyaki is tempting, visit Sonoma Teriyaki where you’ll find everybody’s fave, chicken teriyaki but also a variety of vegetarian options including fried zucchini. It’s a great way to eat your vegetables!

Number 5 – Blissful Beverages

If you need non-alcoholic beverages to keep you going as you tour the many delights of the Fair, there’s an array of choices to keep you on track.

Caffeine junkie or just a fan of good vegan pastry treats, Sunshine Coffee Roasters fits the bill.

Can’t make it without your Boba tea fix? Not a problem – Bubbles Boba Tea has you covered with milk teas and fruit teas.

If you’re looking for a hit of citrusy sweetness, try some lemonade by the yard as well as iced tea at, where else? The Lemonade Yard.

If it’s really hot, or even if it isn’t, Kona Ice is the spot for refreshing shaved ice.

Number 4 – Not-So-Sweet Treats

Grilled Cheese, Anyone?

Still hunting for some savory selections? How about a Black Pig bacon BLT or Kimchee fries? Black Piglet is the place to be if you want pork products sourced from sustainably raised local pigs that always roam free.

It could be that street food is what you’re up for – think Mojo Nachos (chicken, pork, veggie, GF or DF), Korean Chicken street tacos – then make your way to Lila’s Streetside Eats.

If you’re craving some comfort food with a tasty twist, then run don’t walk to The Farmers Wife where a gourmet grilled cheese sandwich made with Sonoma County cheese awaits.

Number 3 – Swipe Right for Farm 2 Table

Fancy a Cocktail? Sonoma County Shrubs

Down-to-earth foodie seeking farm2table treats. If that describes you, then it’s time to savor crab rolls or beer-battered garlic fries from Gourmet Faire.

Perhaps you need a snack to make it through the afternoon or you’re eager for a little reminder of Sonoma County when you mix up some cocktails. Flatbed Farms’ chips and salsa and homemade shrubs will satisfy your farm2table tastes, not only at the Fair, but long after you leave.

Number 2 – Comfort Food, with Apples

Mac & Cheese with Barbecued Apples. That’s right, the Fair’s heirloom apple is served up in everyone’s favorite comfort dish, Mac & Cheese, making it “apple-icious.” Bayou on the Bay combines fresh pasta, local cheese and some barbecued Gravs – how can you go wrong?

Number 1 – Grab a Grav!

Grabbing some Gravs

So now we’ve come full circle on our tour of the Fair’s greatest food hits – back to the apple that inspired it all! Fresh Gravenstein Apples, the Fair’s namesake variety, right off the tree. These apples are a shot of sweet and tart summer in a beautiful green package, dappled with red. You can find fresh Gravs in all their glory, whether as sauce, juice or whole. Check out our Apples page to find all the amazing apple options.

VIP Food Trucks

Let’s not forget the two restaurants that will serve wonderful local fare exclusively to the Fair’s VIP guests – Fork Roadhouse and Belfare. Learn more about the Fair’s VIP experience

That’s the tour of the amazing and tempting treats at the Fair. Are you hungry yet?
